About

Hello there world!

My government name is Ashley, but I’ve never liked it that much – I’ve never felt like an Ashley. I’ve always felt more connected to my middle name, Danielle (or Dani, for short), which is the name that I’ve chosen to use here. I just thought I’d mention this to avoid any potential for confusion because I do (unfortunately) use the name Ashley both socially and professionally despite not liking it. We’re working on fixing that.

Now that that’s out of the way…

Hi! I’m Dani. I’m a pretty typical millennial living in Tennessee with my fiancé and our two cats, Salem and Ziggy. I work full time in finance and I’m currently in school for a Political Science degree. In my free time, I enjoy starting projects that I rarely finish, gaming (mostly cozy games), falling down random research rabbit holes, reading, and putting things in my online carts and never checking out.

Being in a generation that witnessed the birth and growth of the internet and blogging, I think most people my age have at some point given consideration to starting a blog. But like most, I’ve either talked myself out of it or had life get in the way. What I’ve realized recently, however, is that I had extra elements at play – Autism & ADHD (alleged). I am an absolute professional at half-finished projects, especially when they aren’t passion projects. I have started and abandoned numerous blogs before ever publishing a single post. What I’m now realizing is that those attempts couldn’t have possibly been passion projects because they were attempts at doing the same thing that everyone else does. If you know me, you know that I am very much an against the grain type of person. If something is popular, I’m uninterested. If something is easy for others, it’s hard for me. If it’s hard for others, it’s easy for me. I kept trying to start blogs that had a specific niche, but I could never figure out what my niche actually was. Turns out…I don’t have one. My ADHD makes damn sure that I don’t specialize in an one singular thing, but instead I’m everywhere. So here’s my attempt at niche-less everything everywhere blogging.

What you’ll see and read here will be bits of everything around my life with a heavy emphasis on Autism & ADHD diagnosis and life as a neurospicy person. Since one of my favorite hobbies is cozy gaming, there will be a heavy dose of that content as well. I’ll also write a bit about personal finance as that’s a special interest of mine. (Disclaimer: While I work in finance, I do not have any credentials with which to give personal finance advice. Finance posts will be made about my own journey in improving my personal finances and should not be taken as advice for what to do with your own finances.)
